Interview Confidence Tips: Shifting Your Energy From Wanting to Deserving

When we’re in an interview, it’s common to project an energy of desperation, as if we need the job more than anything else. This can unintentionally convey the feeling of “I don’t deserve this” to both ourselves and the interviewer. Subconsciously, we begin to reject the opportunity, even when we deeply desire it. 

Instead, we should enter an interview with the mindset that we are capable, skilled, and that the recruiter wants us just as much as we want the job. This shift in mindset allows us to radiate confidence and fullness. The recruiter will pick up on this positive energy, and it aligns us more closely with the job.

So, here are some interview confidence tips for an Interview.

Approach the interview as a mutual evaluation process.

Yes, you are being interviewed, but you should act as if you are assessing if the company meets your expectations. By doing this, you mentally reframe the interview, making it less about proving yourself and more about finding the right fit.

I understand that when you’re in between jobs, it’s easy to fall into a mindset of desperation. But try to maintain an attitude of curiosity and self-worth. Ask yourself, “Does this company align with my values and expectations?”

Additionally, adopt the mindset that you are interviewing the interviewer. Not only does this change your energy, but it also shifts the dynamic in the room. You will exude a calm confidence that the recruiter will undoubtedly notice.

Shift from a Mindset of Lack to One of Completeness

The essence here is to move from a mindset of scarcity—“I need this job”—to one of completeness—“I’m exploring opportunities, and I have much to offer.” When you believe in your capabilities and know your value, you automatically give off an energy that reflects self-assurance and positivity.

Appreciate What You Have Today

Another powerful technique to enhance your energy is to start appreciating your current situation. Even if you’re unhappy in your current job, take a moment to notice what you do appreciate about it. Gratitude aligns you with abundance. Only when you are satisfied with your present circumstances can you effectively transition to something better?

If you constantly focus on what frustrates you about your current job, you’ll attract more of the same. Remember, change begins within. Cultivate gratitude for your current position, no matter how small the positives may seem. By shifting your focus, you train your mind to focus on creating more growth and new opportunities.

Think in terms of consciousness

Think about how time seems to fly when you’re deeply engrossed in a hobby you love. Hours can pass in what feels like minutes, right? This same principle applies to your professional life. When you start loving aspects of your existing job or position, even in small ways, time will move faster, and you’ll feel more aligned with your future ideal job.

Essentially, you’re training your mind to focus on the good, to see potential where you once saw problems. Just like a seed can’t grow in barren soil, your dream job can’t manifest in a mind filled with negativity. You need to cultivate a mindset of positivity and appreciation for what you currently have, to make room for better things to come.
