The root chakra or base chakra is hypothetically positioned at the base of the spine.
Depicting the earth element, an effective root chakra indicates how well we are grounded in our physicality.
This means listening to the body and its instincts for actions.
But unfortunately our culture today teaches us to imply mind over the body rather than listening to the body itself.
This may be helpful to some extent in achieving your worldly goals but soon you will see a deterioration (in this case your body) of the very source which helps your spirit to have conscious experience here on earth.
Some of the common life themes where we neglect our body
- In getting good grades
- Promotion
- Getting in shape
Your body is the home to your spirit. If you neglect your body, what makes you think that you will be able to relish your achievements?
This is why see an increasing disease rate, early aging, depression, anxiety, and so on.
On top of that, various cultures explain the body as the root of all evil, to live a life of austerity, spirit is all there is to list a few.
But one important fact they sideline is that the body is the home to the same spirit. Without a healthy body, your spirit may not be able to enjoy the bright side of life.
Downward Manifesting Current and Upward Liberating Current
Downward manifesting current moves from pure and unmanifest consciousness towards the bottom where it gains individuality and definite boundaries.
This helps one to feel contained and have a definite focus towards contained tasks and thereby achieve goals.
Thus to manifest in this 3D plane you must have this downward current flowing and in definite balance with the upward current.
Upward liberating current as the name suggests moves upwards towards liberation and freedom.
As these currents pass one another, we get vortices of energy also known as chakras.
Therefore a proper balance of these two currents is necessary to live a happy life here on earth.
Imbalance in these currents may cause you either to become too spiritual or too materialistic depending upon where the energy flows.
A weak root chakra indicates that there is more of upward current and less of downward manifesting current.
Therefore persons with weak bottom chakras face difficulties putting their dream to reality have a problem in relationships and face issues related to power.
When this happens, one is not able to define boundaries and hence is not able to put his plans to action.
Thus these people find it hard to achieve their basic survival needs, lack security, have trust issues and may remain unhealthy
Root Chakra Gives Structure to the Rest of the Chakras
Imagine your seven chakras together as a structure of a temple.
How well this structure is able to withstand the storms depend upon how well its foundations are laid upon.
Similarly, your chakra system depends upon its foundation i.e the Muladhara or the root.
Once this foundation is strong, you are better able to withstand the storms of life.
But unfortunately, our foundation starts forming when we are in our mother’s womb and don’t have conscious control over our life.
How well the bottom boundaries are made predefine how well other chakras will perform.
Therefore during pregnancy how a mother thinks, acts and feels have a crucial role in how the fetus‘s root chakra develops.
This is why the first year of birth is very important in shaping how the child will face the rest of his life.
Stable root chakra
One is better able to withstand the challenges of life. There is a sense of security and peace.
This stability provides a strong foundation and effective functioning of the remaining chakras.
